The Forklift Operator executes daily material handling, freight transfers, and inventory staging across the facility. The role directly influences warehouse throughput, inventory accuracy, and site safety by operating powered industrial trucks in compliance with provincial safety regulations and facility operating standards. The primary outcome of this position is the secure, accurate, and damage-free receipt, storage, replenishment, and dispatch of materials within established cycle-time targets.

2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Material Handling and Equipment Operation (25%)

• Operates counterbalance forklifts, narrow-aisle reach trucks, and power pallet jacks to transport palletized goods, raw materials, and finished product across warehouse zones.
• Navigates high-density racking aisles, staging zones, and shipping docks safely while maintaining clear visual line-of-sight and appropriate operating speeds.
• Stacks, de-stacks, and positions loads at varying rack elevations without causing product damage, rack collision, or pallet compromise.

2.2 Inbound Receiving and Offloading (15%)

• Offloads inbound trailers, shipping containers, and flatbeds within designated receiving time windows.
• Validates physical load counts, pallet integrity, and seal numbers against delivery bills of lading and receiving paperwork.
• Directs damaged, compromised, or non-conforming shipments to the quarantine holding area and reports discrepancies immediately to [REPORTS_TO_TITLE].

2.3 Outbound Staging and Trailer Loading (15%)

• Stages completed customer orders, transfers, and outbound shipments in assigned dock lanes according to carrier schedule priorities.
• Inspects empty trailers for structural cleanliness, deck integrity, and door safety prior to docking and loading.
• Loads outbound highway trailers and containers following axle-weight balance rules, securement protocols, and freight-crush prevention standards.

2.4 Inventory Put-Away, Replenishment, and Stacking (15%)

• Transfers received inventory from staging docks to designated rack, floor, or bulk bin storage locations using directed warehouse slotting rules.
• Replenishes active forward-picking locations from upper overstock storage to prevent picking line shortages.
• Scans location barcodes, bin tags, and license plate numbers into [HRIS_NAME] to maintain continuous inventory transaction traceability.

2.5 Pre-Operational Inspection and Equipment Care (10%)

• Conducts documented pre-shift inspections on designated powered mobile equipment covering hydraulic lines, fluid levels, forks, tires, safety interlocks, horns, and braking mechanisms.

2.6 Warehouse Safety, Housekeeping, and Hazard Control (10%)

• Maintains clean and unobstructed forklift travel aisles, emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and electrical panels throughout the shift.
• Cleans operational spills, fallen debris, and broken pallet boards immediately using proper spill containment and waste disposal protocols.
• Adheres to site pedestrian safety rules, honks at blind intersections, maintains safe following distances, and wears [REQUIRED_PPE] at all times.
